Reverse Osmosis Water Additives

Tap water contains lots of components, typically chlorine, heavy metals, and high phosphate and nitrate levels, all of which have a negative impact on aquarium water quality and fish health which is why more and more people are producing their own pure water with a Reverse Osmosis unit.

A reverse osmosis unit strips all the undesirable components out of tap water but the result is a pure water of low pH (around 5.4), no buffering capacity and lacking in some essential salts.

The answer is to add back these essential components only, in order to make to water perfect for the type of fish being kept. R.O.
