Description
JBL PhosEx Ultra is a highly efficient absorptive filter media which targets excess Phosphate in both freshwater & marine (saltwater) aquariums. Phosphate is continuously produced in the captive aquarium system & rapidly builds up to concentrations that are many times in excess of those found in a natural system. Phosphate will promote un-desirable algae of all types but is especially associated with hair algae.
Phosphate levels should be maintained at 0.0 to 0.1ppm or mg/l (parts per million or milligrams per litre) & this insidious organic poison, even at levels of 0.25 to 0.75ppm is moderately to severely stressful to marine invertebrates & higher levels will affect fish health.
PhosEx Ultra is specifically designed for external cannister filters or sumps. The pack comprises 2 doses of absorptive material each of which is sufficient to treat approx. 200 litres of water. The material should be placed in the media bag supplied, rinsed under the tap & then wrapped in filter wool to stop fine particles escaping into the aquarium. PhosEx will continue to remove Phosphate for a period of 5 to 6 months but ideally you should monitor the Phosphate levels with a Phosphate test kit in order that you can identify when the material is exhausted & requires replacing.
Comprehensive instructions for use included.
