Duckweed Control

Duckweed is a small light green leafed floating plant that is usually introduced to the garden pond via the addition of plants or carried in from a natural pond by visiting birds or amphibians (frogs, newts and toads).

Once in the garden pond it will quickly spread to cover the surface which can look unsightly but also can cause submerged pond plants to die off as the light is cut out and they are unable to photosynthesise. 

Mechanical removal with a net helps but the task can be made much easier by adding a duckweed controller to the pond water.
