Catfish,Tablet & Wafer Foods

Many Catfish & Barb species have adapted mouth parts for scavenging & grazing on the bottom of a lake, river or stream or on submerged rock or wood. This means that it is not as easy for them to pick up food items from the surface or in suspension in the water as it is for mid to surface swimming species. Some of them are also algae grazers & typically there will not be enough material for them to graze on in a well maintained aquarium. Some Plecostomus type fish species also require wood fibre in their diet.

It is essential therefore that food is delivered to these fish in sinking tablet, wafer or pellet form if they are to receive sufficient food that is appropriate to their needs.

Stick on the glass tablet treats are also greedily consumed by all fish varieties.
