Aquariums have come a long way since, over 2000 years ago, the Chinese first hybridised Goldfish varieties for viewing from above which they kept in ornate ceramic bowls. Today aquariums come in a bewildering range of sizes and designs and whilst some are specifically designed for keeping a particular type of fish or aquatic organism such as the Marine Reef systems many can be adapted to suite the requirements of most fish species.

Design has become more and more important and whilst many furniture style cabinet aquarium systems fit the traditional rectangular footprint (now including bow fronted and corner fitting versions) there are also Orbs, cubes and those that make a very bold contemporary design statement.
